Volunteer Opportunity: Trustee & Company Director
Wonford Community and Learning Centre Ltd
Commitment: Approx. 3–5 hours per month (including monthly board meetings)
Location: Wonford, Exeter (in-person)

Wonford Community and Learning Centre is looking for enthusiastic, committed individuals to join our friendly Board of Trustees as both a Charity Trustee and Company Director.
Our centre provides a vital space for local groups, learning, and community connection. As a Trustee and Director, you will help guide our strategic direction, ensure sound governance, and make sure we continue to thrive and serve our neighbourhood effectively.
What We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from all backgrounds, but are particularly keen to recruit individuals with experience or skills in one or more of the following areas:

Finance & Accounting: Supporting budget oversight, financial planning, or reviewing annual accounts.

Human Resources (HR): Guiding people management, staff/volunteer support, and recruitment practices.

Policy & Governance: Developing, updating, and reviewing operational policies, compliance, and best practices.
Previous board experience is not essential—what matters most is your commitment, perspective, and desire to make a positive local difference. Full induction and support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities

Attend regular board meetings and contribute to strategic decision-making.

Ensure the charity and company fulfill legal, financial, and regulatory obligations.

Act as an ambassador for the centre and champion our community goals.

Volunteers –
We need people to help with the café on a Wednesday Morning, Thursday Morning and Saturday Morning.
Do you like meeting and greeting people, maybe help with the cooking, or serving drinks?
We also run occasional events for families, and need help organising games, craft activities or just help setting up and clearing away.

Cafe – Volunteer Cook
We are currently looking for someone who enjoys cooking, to help in our Wednesday cafe and possibly sometimes the Thursday cafe.
Food Hygiene course will be provided. We have a simple menu that is affordable.
This opportunity can be weekly or on an ad hoc basis.

Knit and Natter or Crafting volunteers!
Do you enjoy crafts, or chatting and meeting new people?
We are looking for someone to help each week with welcoming people to our cafe and supporting the creation and ongoing development of a knit and natter or crafting session in the cafe.
Being able to knit or crochet is not essential, but would be helpful, the ability to chat and make people welcome is essential and will make so much difference to that success of this project.

Youth Club volunteers!
We are currently looking for local people to help us develop and start a youth club for key stage 2 children.
We have some interested parents already coming onboard, and we hope to plan some meetings for those interested soon.
